Our journey at TAQA Transmission toward building a parent-friendly work culture began three years ago with a clear vision: to create a workplace that genuinely supports working parents. With strong Support from our leadership, we introduced flexible work arrangements, enhanced parental leave policies, and tailored well-being programs. These initiatives were not isolated efforts, they became embedded in our culture and daily operations.
We listened to our employees (especially working parents) with the aim of engaging them to co-create policies and initiatives that addressed their real needs. Over time, we witnessed a powerful shift: higher engagement, improved retention, and a stronger sense of belonging across all levels.
This year, our efforts were proudly recognized with the Parent-Friendly+ Label, a milestone that reflects the collective dedication of our entire company. While this recognition is deeply appreciated, our journey is far from over. We remain committed to further empowering our parents because supporting them means supporting the growth and resilience of our whole organization.
What inspired us to join the movement toward building a parent-friendly workplace is our belief that a successful company begins with thriving people. We recognize that the future of work prioritizes flexibility, empathy, and support for families.
At TAQA Transmission, we see ourselves as part of the broader community and we are committed to giving back in meaningful ways. Therefore, creating a workplace that supports parents has become our priority as when we empower parents, we strengthen our entire workforce, and that drives long-term success for our people, our business, and the communities we serve.
Our journey has not been defined by a single initiative, but by a series of complementary efforts that reinforce one another and reflect our commitment to a supportive, people-first culture. From flexible working arrangements to parental support, inclusive family events, open communication forums as well as dedicated facilities for parents. These actions are intentionally connected, grounded in trust and understanding, and together they continue to build a workplace where everyone feels valued and empowered to thrive.
Parent-friendly workplaces enhance retention, productivity, and engagement by supporting employees’ personal responsibilities. They attract diverse talent, strengthen reputation, and foster loyalty and trust. By prioritizing family support, organizations create a culture where employees thrive and contribute their best. This approach drives innovation, boosts success, and positions companies as leaders in today’s competitive workforce. Supporting employees in managing their personal and professional lives has positively impacted on engagement, satisfaction, and overall well-being, fostering a more productive and motivated workforce.
"As a working mother, the flexibility provided by TAQA Transmission has been invaluable. The option to adjust my hours for important family moments or work remotely when needed allows me to balance my personal and professional life without guilt. This policy doesn’t just support parents, it reflects a broader commitment to inclusivity, understanding that everyone’s situation is unique and deserving of respect."

"The family-focused initiatives here have brought our team together in ways I didn’t expect. The company’s family activities have allowed us to spend quality time with our loved ones while strengthening bonds with colleagues. It’s wonderful to be part of a workplace that values family and provides opportunities to integrate work with meaningful and shared experiences."

One employee was on the verge of resigning due to the stress of balancing work and caregiving responsibilities for both her children and an elderly family member. However, the flexibility offered by the company allowed them to manage both commitments without constant pressure. They shared that this support made them feel understood and valued, which kept them from leaving. The ability to fulfill their family responsibilities while remaining engaged in their role reinforced their dedication to the company. This experience highlighted how our culture not only helps employees navigate tough times but also strengthens their connection to the organization.
An impactful example where employees' feedback directly influenced change, was through insights gathered from our “Parent Hub”. Employees highlighted challenges in balancing work responsibilities with important school-related events. By analyzing this data, we identified a clear need for greater flexibility during the academic calendar. As a result, we enhanced our flexible working initiatives to cover not just the start of the school year, but also key periods such as graduation ceremonies, school registrations, children’s examination periods, and the end of the academic year. This data-driven adjustment allowed working parents to be more present for their children without compromising productivity. The positive response was immediate as employee engagement and satisfaction scores among working parents notably improved. This initiative reinforced the value of listening to employees and demonstrated how targeted, insight-based decisions can foster a more inclusive and supportive work culture for our parents.
